Interview Reflection

I had my interview with Naruto Kyubii, a CAM engineer at Ongoing Waves. I feel the interview went very smoothly, we met up at a bubble tea place we usually hang out and since I was interviewing somebody I know, it took a lot of tension off and made the questions easier to ask.

I feel what worked about this interview as stated before was the fact that we both know each other it helped allow conversation to just flow out continuously without halt allowing the interview to feel more natural than forced out. Notes were very easy to write because since I know he is a very patient person he would be willing to let me finish completely without messing up

The only thing I can say didn't work is that since we did know each other we may of not taken it seriously enough? Like I know its school project but we want to feel it’s more important than that to further prepare us for the future and maybe that's something we should of corrected.

I’ve come to realize that in his organization the position is how easy or difficult communication can be. It seems people in the brains of the operations communicate very well together as well as for the managers and all, but the operators who just make sure it gets made correctly by the machines don’t fully understand the engineers point of view making it a bit harder to naturally communicate without thorough explanation.

It seems the genres read are a lot of emails, work orders, customer service orders and engineer handovers. This was not a shock to me considering he works on a computer 90% of the time he would deal with a lot of online based communication.

I did find some connections with our reading in our interview. One thing I think we both had with applying to chapter 3 in “guidelines adapting to any business culture” was we to “Practice patience and maintain a sense of humor.” We were both very patient with each other with giving each other our questions and responses. Some answers that I would find quite short I would joke at him and say “that's it, I thought engineers had more elaborate answers like their work.” We would laugh talk respond but we both maintained a mutual respect in the interview which is why it probably went so well.

To wrap things up I feel that the interview as a success, I learned that a lot more goes on in endless pools than I thought there was. I feel like this place would be a great place to work for, I always liked this kind of work and being able to work with someone that I personally know would be icing on the cake.

Interview Analysis

Chelsea interviews Kevin Hart

Chelsea,  a Netflix interview guest talk show host is interviewing Kevin Hart to know a little more about him and his new movie "Kevin Hart, What Now?" Some moves I like off the bat is she kept it very casual conversation like there was swearing and inappropriate laughing, but that's probably what Kevin liked since he is the same way being a stand-up comedian. The only other move I could see from Chelsea was possibly a signature to her show was her dog on set, which made Kevin have some pretty funny random moments. I feel like Chelsea as an interviewer was very good, she seemed to know what questions to ask Kevin because he went on for answering for a while, which is a good thing since, in an interview, the interviewee should be talking more than the interviewer. The only thing I didn't like about it is the interview seemed to be more about a biography kind of interview rather than about his movie which seemed to be the point of bringing him on in the first place. However, it overall was an entertaining interview.

I feel like some interesting questions she asked were ones like "What's it like being married, have you been married before?" This gave us a little more on Kevin's backstory of his first wife and how they were young and stupid but they still keep in touch as friends and live their own happy lives. Another good one where she seemed to follow up her own question was "Are you happy every day? Do you feel as famous as you are?" This showed that Kevin is very aware of how famous he is but he doesn't brag about it, he stays humble and outside movies and stand-up, he's a normal father how drives his kids to school, cooks for taco Tuesdays, has game nights. He doesn't want to be out partying every night he enjoys the simple side of reality with his family. When she asked about his movie and why his special was named "What now?" It seemed to as he said, "fucked you up a little bit." He goes on to say it seems to be the question that you always keep getting but should never stop answering. You always want to better yourself so that there is always an answer to "what now?" Lastly with the question of how Kevin met Halle Berry and the follow up of how that became friends and how? It was important since she was in his stand up special, back when he was no one but a starter of fame and Kevin was a huge fan and when he asked her to be featured and she said yes, that's where the ball started rolling for not only his friendship but maybe even his fame. Of course, he got there mostly himself but she was a hilarious addition to the segment.

The only vague question that didn't reveal too much was her first question was "How are you doing?" That is a very basic and broad question but that doesn't mean it was useless. These are usually the firestarter questions, they break the ice and help conversation flow into more deep questions like the ones mentioned above.

Questions asked:

Kev, How are you doing?
What's being married like? Have you been married before?
Are you happy every day? Do you feel as famous as you are?
Why did you name your special "What Now?"?
How is Halle Berry in your stand-up special?
How did you guys become friends?
How, where did you meet her?

3 Proposals Revised

  • Proposal Project Idea 1: I have been big with computers, and I always wanted to work with how they work and if there are ways I can eventually understand then improve on the application, Which is why I am majoring in IST Application Development. Chris Caldwell, my Uncle is a big inspiration for why I am into computers and he has done a lot with computers, he's IT Specialist in a lot of fields.

  • Proposal Project Idea 2: I have never been bad with people, I like the idea of working with groups of people in order to make something work. Which is Why Steven Acuna who is a CAM Systems Engineer at Endless Pools. While we may not have completely the same roles he knows what people who do have work like I would be doing, so getting a perspective from someone relating to the people of the field might make an interesting twist.                        (Most Likely for interview)

  • Proposal Project Idea 3: My Mother has worked for a company called ARI Fleet for many years and she tells me how reliable and well paid the IT department is. I would not mind working at a place like that to start off with a decent salary and do what I am good at. My mother knows one of the IT guys, William Thompson who is an Analyst II analyses all of the paperwork before it goes to the customer and overall makes sure the computers in the facility are running smoothly.
